The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) has chosen prominent Saudi businessman Ghodran Saeed Ghodran as one among more than 20 most influential personalities in the economic, social, humanitarian, youth, and sports fields across the Arab world. The UN body’s selection is also based on his outstanding contributions in supporting programs of education, peace, and tolerance as well as in fighting poverty and malnutrition.
ECOSOC also named several prominent Arab business leaders in the list of most influential figures. They included Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal, Prince Turki Bin Salman, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoom, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Fahd Al-Sabah and Suleiman Al-Faheem. The panel of jury who made the selection of influential Arab figures is comprised of eminent academics and experts from the universities of Harvard, George Town, and George Washington.
Ghodran is a business tycoon based in the Eastern Province. His group runs several industrial, economic, health and educational projects. He has made immense contributions in all these fields in addition to his achievements in the charity and humanitarian fields. He serves as president or member of several charity organizations. Ghodran has also made outstanding contributions in the sports fields, especially his key role while serving as president of the Saudi Arabian Tennis Federation. During his presidency, the Saudi tennis team won several championships at the Gulf, Arab and Asian levels.
Holder of bachelor’s degree in business administration from the American University of Middle Estate, Ghodran held several key posts in the economic, social, humanitarian, youth and sports fields. He served as deputy president of the board of Arab Tennis Federation, and deputy chairman of the board of Tamkeen, the society for orphans in the Eastern Province called “Tamkeen.” Ghodran is serving as deputy chairman of the board of Saeed Ali Ghodran and His Sons’ Group of Companies, which runs several firms.
